We have released a simple hosting service for weblogs and wikis at the university of Groningen. For weblogs use is made of the Drupal software, an open source system, mainly written in PHP. The hosting service is very simple, we assume that users find their own way in the weblog world. We just host the software and make new accounts on request. Simple, nothing fancy. More info about Drupal can be found on their website and, if needed, in books (like: Building Websites with Drupal by David Mercer).

For wikis, the same procedure is used. We host wiki software and leave the rest to our users. We use the MediaWiki software. This, of course, is Open Source software and also used for Wikipedia.
